I don't know ... I sometimes use one or the other of my LX, but in truth, unless I feel a need for the neat metering or the special finders, I find the MX and the Leica much more enjoyable to shoot in 35mm format. If I had to give up one of my cameras today, it would be a no brainer ... the LX would be gone in a NY minute.
Here's what I don't like about the LX: It's big and heavy compared to the MX ... I can carry more cameras with me using Leicas and MX than when using an MX. It's noisy, or, rather, loud. Imagine being asked to leave a small rally taking place outside because the camera was disturbing people. And firing that puppy indoors draws the attention and stares of people like poop attracts flies. Using the camera with a winder is a real PITA. The winder is huge compared to the MX and ME S winders, and, either according to you or Rob Studdert, using the camera with the winder in a tripod with a longish or heavy lens can create stability problems. However, it is a very flexible camera with interchangeable screens and finders, and lots of accessories. But if those items are not needed, or if there are alternatives that might work (smaller winder or motor for MX, refconverter instead of FC base - MX has interchangeable screens, too), then carrying the LX around seems top be silly. BTW, when I was visiting John Francis he showed me a tine motor drive for the MX that was a real jewel. I think it was even smaller than the MX winder. No, the LX is like a fully equipped American sedan, but sometimes something a little sportier is more appropriate. shel William Robb wrote: > Don't get me wrong.
