I had an M 35-70 f/2.8-3.5 for a while. Huge and heavy for its zoom range. It's probably the same or similar lens to the first autofocus one sold with the ME F which _was_ a constant f/2.8. That may be why it's often described as a constant f/2.8 when the non-autofocus version is mentioned. Image quality seemed fine.

I think this lens, like a few others, is at its shortest physical length at 70mm and longest at 35mm, which is counterintuitive and also user unfriendly -- at least to me, since I almost always carry a zoom around at its most compact length. If a photo opportunity arises and you then quickly bring the camera up to your eye, it seems more efficient if you're at the wide end and then zoom in in necessary rather than being at the tele end and having to zoom out to perhaps even fit the scene into the frame. Does this make sense?

M35-70/2.8 Who uses this lens?

I'm not even aware of this lens...

Maybe thinking of the AF 35-70/2.8? Or the M 35-70/2.8-3.5? Neither lens gets much play on PDML.
