There was a store in my area that carried Holgas for a while and I kept not buying one. One day I said, "Dawgawn'it, I'm gonna buy me one of them Holga cameras" (southern US accent implied). After all, millions of people shoot plastic cameras with 35mm film in them, why not do it with 120. Wouldn't you know it, when I sent to the store, they did not carry them any more. Is it weird that I was that I was not able to buy a plastic camera?

I decided I needed to teach that taunting 120 film a lesson by exposing it to light. No more will it mock me once it has seen the light! So I bought a Holga. I showed the Holga to one of the fellows who works at one of the labs I use, and he said, "What the Hell did you do _that_ for?" "Because I can't afford the medium format camera I really want. The camera I really want costs more than I've ever paid for a car." By now two other folks in the lab were listening. "What camera do you want?" "A Pentax 67II," I replied. "Oh, well who _doesn't_ want that?" The others present nodded their heads in agreement. So far I've taught a few rolls of film their lesson. At a friend's wedding. I'm looking forward to finding out just how bad^H^H^H uh, "idiosyncratic" the Holga really is. I was amused when I noticed that the store where I bought the Holga marks them "As is -- no returns". But they did have a sheet of tips (both sides of an 8.5x11 page) to go with the camera. I have been naughty. Twenty dollars worth of naughty. I have a Holga. -- Glenn PS: Obviously I've never bought a car that was anywhere near new. And I've probably paid more for a car than I could find a 67 or 67II body for on eBay if I wait long enough. But it's still a valid commentary on the price of a 67II + lens + finder relative to my budget.
