I like Bruce's suggestion best. Some color contrast would be good. I'd try that on the uncropped version, then proceed with cropping from there if you think it needs it. It might even bring out a tinge of color in the weeds in the foreground. If the picture just had a tinge of contrasting color it would be more interesting and emphasize the grayness more.
