Tom Van Veen - One Way
What caught my eye the first time i saw this picture? The One Way signboard. Next the clouds. And the black thick line.
Still unable to figure out what the black thick line is(rooftop?). I am surprise the sky isn't that dark since a red filter was used.
However it did made the signboard cryout, and lighten the slopes and the wall. I would like to tell you that I love this picture, the
composition, the title, the clouds and the signboard but IMHO i felt that this picture could well be better for another theme. Pardon
me but i tend to view the theme and pictures related to it in such a way where i can say "Hey, look what nice patterns and textures
this picture has captured"
Steve Larson - Yum!
Great idea and creativity. Those chocolates are so inviting, both to the tummy and to the theme. I would even have stop for
a second look and admire how they were made and how different each can be. I see that your focus was sharp in the
center, pretty shallow depth of field i would say. Since there 5 types of chocolates in the picture, you may want to consider setting
a smaller f-stop to make them sharp so that more emphasis can be placed on the pattern and textures. I am also unable to figure out
what is the white area on the top center to left picture, and the pinkness in a couple of chocolates in the front. Better DOF would reveal all that to the eye. I believe this shot was taken pretty near to the chocolates as distance affects DOF. Looking at the picture again, it may be possible to have a few compositions from different angle. But I still love the idea and how these chocolates can actually portray the idea
of the theme.
I admit i am being rather harsh on my critiques but this is what we need to improve.
In my most humble opinion.
