I'm still not sure about this. While I agree that on the first image i.e. the sensor 
or film the effect will be the same as for the 800mm lens, as the enlargement to a 
same sized print is greater for the *istD compared to the 35mm film camera, you are 
also enlarging the shake which will then be comparable to the longer lens. After all a 
selective enlargement of a negative has the same effect with regards to foreshortening 
as fitting a longer lens if the camera position doesn't alter.
Or am I mistaken?

    the *ist D is not the same as a 1200mm lens on a 35mm film camera. It 
    only shares the field of view. Things like the shake factor and the 
    forshortening of elements are the same as any 800mm lens on any camera.
