That would explain it, at least.  I still don't like it.  Now that my LX 
no longer has the grip or motor drive on it I find it handles just fine
with regard to the strap.  It is in fact a much happier camera when it
is not being asked to do the things that the Nikon F3 was designed to do.  

I don't recall the 645 handing from my shoulder sideways when I used one 
in college.  I can't see WANTING to hang the 67 off my body like a 35.  

It occurred to me when I was thinking of buying a used LX that if it 
didn't come with a strap I don't know WHERE I'd get one.  I bought a KX
instead, mostly because it hurt the pocketbook less.
