First, Shel,

Very cool shot! I quickly read through some other comments, and I actually like that there's not train in or coming into or out of the station. It looks so bleak and empty - I like the mood. No humans.

I also like the slight blur of the escalator steps - the only movement visible in the frame - amazing!

And, someone mentioned the clock. I like the glow around the red numerals.

And, to echo the others, wonderful composition. The stark geometry of that vantage point also speaks to the lack of humanity in the void; it's like the machines have taken over! <g>

So, in the spirit, here's my totally different take on mass transit, taken a couple of weeks ago on my way home from visiting my kids. In Scarborough (a suburb of Toronto) they have what's called an LRT, which I think stands for Light Rail Transit. It links with Toronto's main subway system. I wish the train in the mirror was blurry. Oh well. <g>:

Yesterday I was meeting a friend at a nearby BART station.
BART is our local subway, underground, metro ...

While waiting for her to arrive, this little scene caught my
attention:

The colors are the result of mixed light - incandescent
below and sunlight above. Decided to set the white balance
for the incandescent.

Oh, I shot a couple of rolls of B&W yesterday, as well, in
San Francisco. Maybe there's a good one in the bunch ...
