59 lbs?  I suppose if you are carrying a computer and transmitting 
equipment it might get that heavy, although I doubt a wet darkroom would
be light either with liquids at about 8lb/gallon.

You'd have to be carrying a lot of cameras and some mighty big glass to
get 59 lbs of camera gear alone.  

The Canon digital kit could also run rings around the Speed Graphic kit in
every way except image quality.  In photo-J this matters, or we'd still
be using Speed Graphics.  I'd think that a Canon digital rebel with some
cheesy 28-300 zoom lens and a decent flash would be at least as capable,
and a lot smaller and lighter.
