The istD with version 1.1 firmware (available from any Pentax
website) will function with all Pentax lenses from the screw mount
era to the modern lenses.
With pre A series bayonet lenses, the camera must be used in manual
exposure mode, although exposure metering and setting is automatic.
The Pentax website of your choice will explain it more succinctly
than I have in the firmware upgrade instructions.
