Assuming that we are talking budget lenses here, Pentax M80-200/4.5 or F70-210/4-5.6, is the general wisdom. The A70-210/4 is more expensive, though it's supposed to be a lot "better" than the other two. Then there are 3 models of Vivitar S1 at this focal length. As a cheaper (even cheaper?) option, I might gamble on the Kiron 70-210/4. I got one (KA fitting) for peanuts off ebay, but had to return it as it had fungus. It really felt business-like with sturdy construction, zoom and focus lock, though I don't think its coating is quite SMC (but then again, what is that can be had for under �70?).
