I agree with what you say also, I didn't want to say you were wrong.
BTW My 85/2 sees a good use with portrait, often wide open, (its plus
over a slower lens) allowing me to blur the background even if close and
softening part of the subject.
For the other field (macro) I'll use a proper tool, the FA 100/2.8. AF
is a useless thing (or even negative since it prevents the use of trap
focusing) in macro but the lens is great.
I wouldn't use it with people, though. My mother almost bashed me on the
head after I showed her her portrait shot with SensiaII 100 and this
lens in bright light...
