Mount Kenya was a huge, jagged, black mass against the sky, except for the snow, which glinted.
In the foreground, everything was dark except for the waterhole. The water was absolutely still, and looked like a pool of molten gold, relecting the sky.
Around the far side, visible only because their shadows fell on the water, was a troupe of buffalo, in line, walking along by the water's edge.
I reached for my camera, and put it to my eye. As I began to gently press the shutter, one of the buffalo stepped into the water! It would have been the picture of a lifetime.
