I don't know John, maybe I can quell your curiosity with a *ist D sample? The 
following file was shot (a moment ago) with the *ist D and A50/2.8 macro at 
f18, 1:1. The file was shot RAW and I've converted and saved it loss-less in 
jpg2000 file format at 48bit RGB with no added sharpening. It's a big file, 
just over 25MB (sorry dial-up comrades). Let me know what you think? ..and 
don't hassle me about the composition :-)
