David, I love this shot! The colours a gorgeous, and the depth of field
usage has resulted in what could be your average, every day macro/flower
shot becoming something moody, and thought provoking, and almost abstract in
its nature (pardon the pun). I love it! (oops, did I say that already?!
lol)
Thanks for the comments. I think you understand the reason why I always shoot macro with a shallow DOF. I just don't find razor-sharp-front-to-back macros interesting as the background usually ends up very distracting. Its just as well because I hate carrying a tripod for 35mm gear. They're too fiddly, and when shooting macro in the real world everything is moving around in the wind anyway.
For this slide its the colours that caught my eye. I think the composition could have been a bit better but shooting a 67 handheld at that kind of extension was a bad idea to begin with. I probably moved about a mile while I hit the mirror lockup then the shutter release. I'd bet that what I saw in the viewfinder was a lot better :)
