Hey all,
a few days I picked up an A* 135 1.8 lens. On kmp.bdimitrov.de I saw that the lens hood is RH-A77, but I think this hood won't be available new anymore. It's not in the Dutch pentax pricelist anymore. Anyone know of a replacement?
Frank
RH-A77 can be found new for 35$.

I think it is not deep enough for good shading. And cumbersome as it is wider than the lens. A metal hood the same width as the lens would make the lens easier to drop in its bag's compartment. Better looking also.
With patience, you can find a deep 77mm metal hood on eBay. As I did... yesterday! A B+W/Schneider for 15$. Same as this one:

Once I get it, I will see if it is ok or too long for the 135/1.8. If too long, I will cut out the corners with a Dremel and put some flat black paint on the bare metal.
Similar hoods (same lenght) have been made by Spiratone and you see them on eBay once in a while. Shorter metal hoods are more common but not worth it.
Cheap alternatives (5$ to 10$ on eBay) are rubber hoods deeper than the Pentax. These three are easy to find:
Mamiya RB67 hood:

Hama zoom hood:

Hoya zoom hood.

But again, rubber has no class (my opinion...). So, see this Nikon, which is a not that deep, but would shade quite a bit, at only 30$...
