No, it didn't.  I found another solution, though, which
entailed going into the BIOS, changing the boot order,
booting from the CD drive, and reloading Windows.  Whatever
was  causing the problem seems to have been repaired by that
approach.

I've been meaning to thank you, and everyone, for the
solutions and suggestions presented, so now's as good a time
as any.  Thanks!

BTW, I don't read the general PDML much any more, and the
only reason I caught this message of yours was because of
the "CDT drive" in the subject.
