Larry, I'm not usually a big fan of IR. I don't know why that is. It just strikes me as somewhat contrived and gimmicky. It's as if the medium becomes as important as, or even more important than the subject. It adds another layer between the viewer and "reality" (whatever that is); rather than removing a layer of gauze (as I think a well-taken b&w photo does), it adds a rather thick one.
All of that being said, I think this one works. Very strong composition with the stream snaking it's way through the frame. Very cool the way the foreground is in shadow and background in the sun - I wonder if a conventional capture would have done as well with that situation.
I also like how the grassy banks of the stream look so fuzzy and friendly (bad word, but that's the best I can do for now...).
All in all, this is one of the best IR's I've seen, and it's just a good photograph - no matter what the medium.
