Hi,
sorry for the topic. I will not put forth any political views, nor
spur flames (hopefuly). I am not trying to start a flame war. I am
just offering a lead to those interested.

If interested in what is going on in the world:

I draw your attention to region of Caucasus, Chechnya, a republic
in the Russian Federation. Moscow-appointed (in totally manipulated
elections) chechen president Kadyrow was killed in a bomb attack
this Sunday. In a country where the second chechen-russian war is
in its fourth year, this might lead to a further escalation of a
conflict which is marked by growing neglect of any human righs
obligations (by both sides). All this quite overlooked by the
world, with most media coverage only on Iraq.

BTW, Lev Nikolayeitch Tolstoy wrote several stories on the region,
which are essential to understanding even the current conflict: "Hadzi
   Murat" & "Caucasian prisoner"

I hope this OT message won't offend you or clutter your mailbox
   much :)

Those interested in further information might have a look at websites of
   these institutions:

www.rferl.org (Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, the BEST news
   coverage of the world, IMO)
   www.tol.cz (Transitions Online)
   www.amnesty.org
   www.hrw.org
   (Humand rights organisations)
www.watchdog.cz (coverage of Caucasus, treasure trove of links on
   the conflict and region)

Good light,
 Frantisek Vlcek
