My Leica CL came home from Leica Camp (also known as the repair shop).

Poor baby: it's the third such visit in the last year or so. Two of the three visits were the results of blows to the camera (first one, last year, loosened a little connecting rod in the meter mechanism). The other visit was to CLA the lens, due to oily blades.

Most recently, I dropped the sucker, causing a dent and scratch to the body, but more importantly, the little glass window in front of the viewfinder was cracked. Not a problem in and of itself, except that the meter needle was getting hung up on the crack.

The magicians at Komineks here in Toronto somehow got their hands on very very thin glass, cut it to the right size, and installed it. Actually, they had to use two pieces of glass, but the seam between them is in front of the framelines, so it's not noticeble inside the viewfinder. More importantly, the meter needle now moves freely.

Anyway, I wanted to get the CL home from camp in time to go to a people camp (GFM, of course). All the better to get all those embarassing candid snaps... <vbg>

I'm going to have a fun weekend!!

cheers,
frank
