It works well. Very fine grain, not bad contrast range.
If you are talking about the older T400CN, it is actually designed to
be printed on black and white paper, and has awful image permanence.
If you are talking about the newer Select B&W (similar to Portra
B&W), (quite a deep mask) (your regional name may be different from
mine), it prints better on colour paper.
It is pretty hard to get a perfectly neutral print, as any slight
colour cast will stick out. OTOH, few black and white papers are
perfectly neutral anyway.
Metamerism is a function of the paper, not the film, your question
regarding this can't be answered in relation to the film product.
