This, again, is not something Pentax have much control other. I doubt if they do their own USB support from scratch; they either buy a standard support chipset or buy a standard on-chip I/O interface from their chip fabricator. Nowadays USB interfaces will all be USB 2.0; it's backwards compatible with USB 1 for older devices, so there's no reason to use anything alse.
