Hi, Fred,
As you likely recall, I used to live in Kitchener/Waterloo, so such signs aren't unfamiliar to me.
They are certainly unique to the area, though, especially north of Waterloo, where the Old Order Mennonites tend to have farms. I'm guessing that Home Depot is north end of Waterloo, sort of on the way to St. Jacobs?
Sadly, signs like that, on large non-Mennonite businesses tend to indicate the encroachment of the city on what was farmland. When I last lived in KW, I recall that many of the Old Order Mennonites were moving away from the area, up towards Mount Forest.
Nice capture, and one that many on this list may never have seen before.
thanks, frank

With the ever increasing cost of gasoline I wonder if we'll be seeing more of these signs springing up in North America.

The area in southern Ontario where I live has a fairly large Old Order Mennonite population. The Old Order Mennonites, like the Amish, shun modern conveniences such as cars and prefer to use horse and buggies. The operator of this Home depot store has provided a barn/shelter for them to park their horses and buggies whilst shopping. Just struck me as an interesting sign, not one seen every day.
Taken with my Optio 33L.
