If I had no lenses already, I would go for canon. They
have a much better AF lens lineup. The only reason to go
with pentax is if you have a bunch of Pentax lenses, but
like idiots they crippled the K mount negating the incentive
to buy pentax for a lot of people.

Alex,

    You're right about it being the better choice, but this is difficult
for me to explain to her.  The Canon comes with a lens for 999, while
the Pentax is 1300 with the lens counting the rebates.
