G'day,
How many of you managed to get Infrared photography with your digital gear?
I did some tries, and at last I've got at least one interesting photography (to my eyes, at least):

Very nice pic! I love the surreal walkway/grass effect! I can only suppose that this is because the grass could move a little in the relatively long shutter time?
I've never tried it... maybe one day I'll give it a go... after I've mastered freezing insects in flight and sugar gliders mid-glide (-:

The things I've discovered, and that you hardly find in all the sites that talk about it (I mean that you MUST go out, shooting, and testing, following the suggestions gathered on internet) are:
- Not every lense is good for infrared, actually many (even expensive one) gives you crap photos
- you MUST frame/focus before put the filter on (it is almost black)
- you must OVEREXPOSE (5 Exp. stops in my case) ( hence, you must use a tripod)
at home you should:
- decompose colors and choose the green channel (but I think it depends on camera model)
- adjust color levels
- add a lot of contrast ( +50 )
(eventually trash it discovering that it is a crap, and go out again ;) )
The odd things are: IR photos are grainy (at least with my camera/workflow) it looks better in the LCD than after your intervention in the PC.
What can you say about it? Which are your experiences (if any)
I did it with a Canon EOS 300D, because I've only it.
I'm posting it here because:
I used to have a pentax MX (now it is in my mother hands, I really miss it sometimes).
You all are really funny.
I haven't seen (yet) any IR photos in this mailing list (BUT I may have missed it)
and more important:
A lot of you are really good photographers, so I believe you can give me a lot of useul hints (as you did in the past, even if I've never asked, just lurking).
P.S.: Talking about learning english in the list, I know my english is not so good, if I made some mistakes, please forgive me, and, if you wish, I'd like to here correction from you. really.
Thank you all, Ciao Danilo.
