I'm with you Mr. Robb on this one. The 85mm F/2 gets no respect on this list.
I think it's the most useable 85mm Pentax makes. It's not much bigger than a
50mm. Is there really a huge difference between F2 and F1.8? All this talk
about the "too big" 85mm makes the 85F2 that perfect portrait lens. Portrait
lenses don't have to be sharp!!! Case in point, I just took a portrait of my
teenage daughter prior to prom. I think I was given all of 30 seconds to get the
shot so I used my FA 28-105 at around 100. It's too damn sharp. I wish I had
used the 85mm to help take the edge off. Instead I went into photoshop and
softened it by duplicating a layer and adding a gaussian blur.... Much better now...
The point is, if you want a tack sharp lens, get a macro. If you want a
portrait lens, find a nice soft lens with good bokeh (whatever that is).
Just my 2 cents.
PS: I have the 15mm. Hardly use it but just looking at it gives me a rush....
I also have the zenitar 16 which is a completely different lens but lots of
fun for just a little cash...

Not a clue.

I am so bad, I really don't worry over much about this sort of stuff.

I think the M 85mm f/2 is a great lens.

That should tell you how discerning I am.
