I hang out on EfNet quite a bit, not as much as I used to, but it's a pretty busy server so a good choice if attracting newbies is a goal. maybe #pentax would be a good name?

I hang out 24/7 on a network called freenode, they have chanserv so you don't need bots or such.
I think it would be great to hang out on IRC too, and maybe this list could focus more on the photography part of things, and still we could talk OT stuff as usual. :-)
