Following advice provided both publicly and privately by listmembers, I 
communicated with Pentax Service in CO, then sent the LX back to them directly 
myself, instead of going through the local shop. 
I called the day before yesterday and was told that the burr on the film rails 
had been taken care of and the camera had been shipped out the previous day, 
and that UPS tracking site indicated that UPS plans to deliver it to me on 
Monday (24th). I'll post another update to y'all when I actually get it back 
and see its condition for myself.
