Trevor,

You can use the setup you describe and it should give good lighting.  I
used to use a similar setup, AF400FTZ Sigma EF430 and Z1p and it gave
very good results.  Give it a trial run before you start on money
making pictures but it should work without any problems.

I wouldn't bother with the popup flash, it will waste battery power.
