Probably knowing how I shot film would help in this comparison. I was shooting with 1-2 67II's and would shoot around 300 frames for a full wedding. Because of the slowness of reloading film and changing lenses, I had to plan shots more carefully and ration along the way. An example would be to figure out how many couples would come down the aisle because I couldn't change film midstream. This might limit me to one or two shots per couple. Because of cost per shot and rationing, I would tend to miss a spontaneous moment more often - basically got the shot I was after and need to save the remaining frames...type of scenario. I must say that the spontaneous shots are quite often better than the planned shots. So with that in mind, I would shoot about 300 and deliver a bit over 200. Technical flops are not common, but things like closed eyes, bad expression and such can cause them to not be shown.
With digital, the rationing is no longer a problem. Along with that, shooting the *istD is quicker to work with than the 67II - not to mention lighter. So the number of shots jumps up to 600-800 with a delivered quantity of around 400-500. The wedding you just looked at had 441 images delivered with about 650 shot. More insurance shots are taken (expressions and closed eye problems) and more sequences along with more candids (don't have to ration shots). It results in better coverage of the wedding in my opinion. Hope this is the information you were looking for. -- Best regards, Bruce Tuesday, May 25, 2004, 11:46:49 AM, you wrote: RL> Hey Bruce, I just went through your wedding shots- excellent stuff, sure did RL> succeed in being everywhere at once!
