The shot with the mortar flame was captured using the *istD and the
360FGZ flash with rear curtain sync. The shutter was in bulb and the
aperature wide open.

I have more, but they must be declassified before I can publish them.
Hope to bring them to you soon. In all I took about 4000 images with
various cameras, digital, 35mm, and MF. Most of the images are of
individual people and military installations.

I guess the adage regarding the army lives up to itself
'long periods of boredom punctuated by moments of intense excitement'
I recall one of the chaps firing the mortars saying after a barrage
'this is the shit'. He was totally buzzing from the experience.
When it happens, it happens fast and it is over fast.
