"The optimist thinks this is the best of all possible worlds. The pessimist fears it is true." -J. Robert Oppenheimer

I'm back after a long weekend out of town (it was Victoria Day here in Canada, one of our many vestiges of colonialism - officially celebrated on May 24, it's our first "summer" long weekend, called May Two Four by one and all, as in a case of twenty four beer, get it?). It was cool and pissed rain all weekend, but never mind, it was a good weekend anyway.

So, on Saturday I rented Lost in Translation with Bill Murray and Scarlet Johannsen (who is quite lovely, IMHO). Scarlet's hubby, played by Giovani Ribisi, is a fashion photog, and they show him packing up his equipment, which included two great honkin' Pentax 67 bodies. I waited until the end of the credits, and Pentax got thanked, so it was obviously a product placement (but a very appropriate one, given what the character purported to do in the flick).

I thought it was cool.

cheers,
frank
