Numerous people have complained that Nikon scanning software isn't very
good. Many people have raved about Vuescan. Several times I've wondered
what it is about Nikon software that people dislike. I've only used it,
and only about thirty times over the past couple of years. It seems OK to
me, as do the results. I've never used Vuescan. I'm ignorant about the
differences in practical application, and what to expect in the way of
results.

Now that I'll soon have my very Coolscan film scanner, these questions have
more significance. So, what is it about Nikon software that you don't
like? In what way is Vuescan better?

I've downloaded the Vuescan "Getting Started" guide and can see some
features that Nikonscan doesn't have (at least not that I know of), but
features "don't mean squat" unless they work well. Therefore, any comments
from experienced users of both software packages would be appreciated,
especially concerning the newest versions of each.

Thanks!
