The impression is from a quick an dirty comparison
between the 31mm of a friend and my 24mm. Slide film, 
same film, same subject, same time, same same
lightning . OK this isn't exactly scientific our
impression was that there are visible differences in
color reproduction (no judgment here which on is
"better"). 
Sure shooting newspapers, brick walls, roof tops and
filigree branches in bright back light gives 
important insights into the properties of the optics. 
But I think such tests are overrated - the actual
"image impression" in practical use is IMO much more
relevant .
