well, i would have preferred a Pentax solution, but i am not holding my
breath. the target date for making a decision is mid October. if there are
credible rumors from Pentax by then for a high end body, i may wait a little
while longer. i have no plans to sell my modern Pentax equipment like the
*istD and the ilk, but my older bodies and accessories will have to go. i'm
thinking of selling my MX and Super Program and their accessories anyway.
the M 50/1.7 is part of that set. the ZX-5n is to go too. the newest Pentax
bodies will stay because they are small and light and for back country
photography, i will still need to pare weight as much as possible.

current thinking if i go Canon is 1D Mk2, 400/4 or 500/4, and the 1.4
extender to start with. after that, i'll see. the long end is where Canon
has clearly higher specs than Pentax in the ways that matter to me.
everything else depends. i could sell my Pentax 400/2.8 and set of 3
converters and finance some more L series lenses.
