Too tight, left & right edges over-cropped. No sense of context. Good tonality though, excellent detail. But the comp is wrong, sorry, but doesn't live up to a shelbel.

Marilyn has a small garden at the front of her small home in a quiet part
of Oakland, California. The garden is a little wild, and that's Marilyn's
preference. She works hard to maintain the wild feel. On a low wall in
the garden are the shoes. They belonged to her dad who has been gone for
several years. These are the shoes he liked to wear when taking long walks
in the woods near his home. Marilyn put them in her garden to remind her
of her father, and his simple, basic ways.

This photo was a bit of an experiment. The shoes and the setting are all
quite similar in tone, so I had to play with shape, form, texture,
perspective to get something by shooting in B&W. Maybe it works for you
... comments appreciated.
