Not according to fotoMagazin/Olympus. They hand polish the lenses for the
E-1.
I don't know if they are very expensive, but I guess the manual labour is a
relatively small investment, compared to the otherwise presumeably mostly
"robot-made" camera body, centre of a totally new camera system. I believe
Olympus mad a clever choise in this respect.

if they have to do any hand work on the elements for even 1% of them, the
price of the lens would skyrocket.
