If they did then they should just buy a full frame 35mm digital system.
(Or am I the only one who sees the advantages in this).

I quite agree. The problem of some Pentax users is that they keep
dreaming
about the long gone LX and possible high end 135 cameras when in fact
Pentax
has never commited themselves to this sector. The LX, was a one off
deal,
not before, or since have any other attempt. Their professional
market is
120.
