F: First generation of AF lenses from Pentax. Design is usually gray and with a plasticky look to them.
FA: Second, and still current, generation. Designed in either silvery grey or black. FAJ: Introduced with the *istD. Lacks the traditional aperture ring. Aperture must be selected from camera. May I also add two more variants, both of which actually belong to the FA generation; FA*: high-end lenses that includes at least one aspherical element to improve the optical qualities. A corresponding subseries existed also for "A" lenses (pre-autofocus). LTD: There are three limiteds, the 31mm, the 43mm and the 77mm. All characteristic with a very compact design, high optical quality and well built. hth, Jostein Quoting Don Sanderson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > Sorry for the last post without a subject, still trying to get used to the > list > requiring "Plain Text" format. > Have to send them a couple more times to get it right. > > Does anyone know if there is a clear cut distinction between these different > Pentax > AF lens designations, or perhaps a site that lists the differences? > Also what is the difference between SMC and SMCP? > > Thanks > Don > > ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program.
