Pentax K mount lenses are (as far as I recall by heart): Older manual K-mount lenses are SMC:
K (or no letter) made for K1000, K2, KX etc M are made for MX, ME, Me Super, LX etc. M* are compact and light lenses (that's what it says in the small books, that came with the lenses) A have electrical contacts for communication with the camera body for viewfinder info shutter priority AE etc. made for Super A/Program and more A* are special or excellent pro quality lenses (as opposed to consumer lenses) F (made for the SF series - SFX, SF1, SF7 etc.) FA (made for Z and MZ series) FA* are special or excellent pro quality auto focus lenses (as opposed to consumer lenses) FAJ (made for the ist and *ist D) - they do not have an aperture ring. http://www.bdimitrov.de/ can explain further and also explain the different K-mounts etc. Cheers Jens Bladt mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://hjem.get2net.dk/bladt -----Oprindelig meddelelse----- Fra: Don Sanderson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sendt: 6. juli 2004 13:59 Til: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Net Emne: Does anyone know if there is a clear cut distinction between these different Pentax AF lens designations, or perhaps a site that lists the differences? Also what is the difference between SMC and SMCP? Thanks Don
