I rather liked the "sheet of contacts" presentation, mainly because it reinforced the liveliness of children by the dramatic changes of posture evident in each frame. Even though the location didn't change much....
This presentation loses that, so although the individual frames are larger and therefore show more detail, I think I prefer "Five minutes with Jesse" as an image with multiple sub-images.
On a technical note, I would put the "next" and "back" links in a place that did not require moving the cursor as the image orientation changes.
