However my circumstances were different. I pulled the CF card out of the reader before "stopping" the device. The card shoed "full" in the camera but i could not see any images. I did not delete the images. The other weird thing is that the version I have does not recognize .pef (pentax RAW files) so the recovered files had .tf as extensions which of course would not open. a simple rename to .pef fixed it.
