Guys, The problem has been noted by people in at least four countries (UK, USA, Australia and Norway). I'm sure it happens elsewhere too.
To me, this looks like an infrastructure problem. Graywolf mentioned a possible update of server anti-spam. That would make sense since it would only affect the users connected to an ISP using that particular anti-spam software, and thus explain the relatively odd distribution of the problem. Another cause could be faulty or hiccuping routers at some strategic point, such as in the overseas connections. If that happened on American soil, the results would be unpredictable for the connections between Europe and Australia/Asia as well. I've had serious difficulties reaching some Taiwanese web- and FTP sites over the last week. If the latter explanation is somewhere in the ballpark, it might explain other connection problems too.
