There are a a lot of folks that like the Southwestern beaches (fortunately!) I far prefer the Northwest shore, around Napili Bay. We've stayed there every two or three years since about 1976, in one of the beach front condos of Napili Sunset—same one every time.
We try other places from time to time, but keep coming back to Napili Sunset...
Napili is very nice. I actually looked at a couple of condo units there a couple of years ago.
We have been going to Kihei for many years, and generally stay at the Kamaole Sands condominium. We owned a unit there for 6 years or so, but sold it when the real estate market started to get unpredictable.
Been to Hana twice. I think that will do me fine, for a long time...
We have also. This time, we plan to hit the arboretum and a couple of the waterfalls with swimming "pools" on the road to Hana, but we have no interest in going all the way there and back. Been there, done that.
Now, Lanaina is another thing. We always go there each trip over. Must have seen every store and every trinket literally a hundred times, but we do it a little different each time.
We will visit one of the art shows and usually buy something from a local artist. We always manage to eat somewhere in town, for lunch.
We always go to Lahaina for dinner and to visit the galleries. There art some really great art galleries and shops now in Makawao. It's not just a cowboy town anymore.
Then it's in and out of the better art and jewelery stores, like in Kapalua or Kaanapali.
Always something a bit different.
Perhaps hit Happy Hour at Reilley's at Kaanapali.
Maybe supper at Jamesons Grill & Bar, at Kapalua, up on the hill from the Bay Club...Lovely, and outstanding food.
I usually avoid Kaanapali -- too crowded. Jameson's is very nice, however.
I think next time we'll spend our time at the Kapalua Bay Hotel, for a change of pace...
We like having breakfast at the Sea House hotel restaurant on the sand at the northern end of Napili Bay. You can walk there and back, along the beach...
Kapalua is the classiest part of the northwest shore, and the Bay Hotel is a gem. I always go there to see how the other half lives. The Sea House sounds a bit like my favorite restaurant on the south beach -- the Five Palms, between Kihei and Wailea, right on Keawekapu beach. I see if we can find the Sea House when we are up north.
Nice sharing memories of paradise with you.
