There was some discussion of this lens a little while back, probably my fault. Somebody, I forget who, suggested that I might not be satisfied with it. I figured that for $50 I'd try it, but it wasn't a ringing endorsement.

They were probably thinking of the smaller filter ring version.
As has been pointed out earlier on this list, the "better" version of this lens is the one with the 62mm filter ring.
It will very likely cost you $100 in good condition, and well worth the price.
