thanks for taking the time to look & comment.
What I've posted is a moderate crop of the original slide in which about one fifth of 
the bottom has been removed, that included leaves from the main flower & other leaves 
in the vicinity. I felt the inclusion of that cropped bottom distracted from the 
effect I was "shooting for".  
My outdoor photographic philosophy is to isolate & simplify, forcing the viewer to 
concentrate on the scene I want them to see.

Over all, I really like your sunflower picture, the colors and the angle of
view.
Did you try taking a bit more "green" and more of the of the stem of the big
sunflower and to get all of the leaves of the big and the small sunflower
too? Is this photo cropped or not?
