Yes, I was amazed to learn how close Mt. St. Helens is to Portland, and to see it just to the North. If I had stayed a couple of more days I would have driven out there. Believe there is a visitor's center. How lucky everyone was that it blew up to the North, rather than to the South. Flying in and out of Portland it is quite a sight to see several volcanic peaks sticking up through the clouds!
