Yeah, I don't think the remote cord A is at all necessary. You can use a standard, mechanical, screw-in cable release with the motor drive and the drive still works, unlike the ME2 Winder.
How on earth did you locate the Power Cord A?

Alas, my "A" is dead, and its accessories are idle.
Despite it's larger size and the flatness of the grip (it lacks the finger moldings of the Winder ME-II) I always preferred the feel of a driven Super A over a wound Super A. The shutter release is also more instantaneous with the motor.
