They might have had it for a while. My 77 (silver) is serial no. 
0003051, and was bought in Dublin (Ireland) in December 2001. Sixty-two 
lenses in three years seems to be taking the "Limited" concept a bit 
far :-)

For the record, my 43mm (silver) is numbered 0004035 and was bought 
second-hand in September 2001.

Actually, as nobody has mentioned it: I read somewhere (AOHC website??) 
that the "Limited" referred to Pentax limiting monthly production 
numbers to achieve higher quality (resist, Alan :-) ), rather than 
limiting the total production run to X-hundred thousand units.
