Actually, J.C. Penney had owned them for a number of years and recently sold them. The stores on the Eastern seaboard, except Florida, were bought by Brooks (pharmacies) and are keeping the Eckerd name (for now). Florida and the stores in the Southwest were bought by CVS and will become CVS's. As I manage an Eckerd 1 hr lab I've been following Brook's weekly flyers. They seem to emphasize their overnight service over their 1 hour service (i.e. more coupons for overnight). So I'm doubtful of seeing new machines in the near future. Of course, since I'm in an underperforming store new equipment is the least of my worries. Butch
